Box lines Navegação, SA company, is part of the Sonae Group that in October 1999, began a maritime transport service to and from the Autonomous regions of Madeira & the Azores.

In Madeira, Box Lines is represented by Blandy Shipping. This partnership guarantees a very high level of service for all clients.

Box Lines has a fleet of three ships - "S.Gabriel", "S.Rafael" & "Apolo Timber" all specialized in the transport of containers (Multi-Purpose Container Vessels). These characteristics enable the transit time from Leixões to Lisbon in less than half a day, from Lisbon to Madeira in less than a day and a half, and from Lisbon to Ponta Delgada in little over two days.

The Port of Funchal is served weekly by the ship "Apolo Timber", with departures from the ports of Leixões & Lisbon.
For the traffic in the Azores, Box Lines uses "S. Rafael" and "S. Gabriel", each one making fortnightly trips, also with departures from Leixões and Lisbon.

Box Lines operates a fleet of various types of containers, from the traditional Dry-Box of 20 and 40´ up to the special containers and reefers. Besides containers, Box Lines' ships transport cars, trucks, machines and other types of non-container cargo.
